Hamburg, 2 May 2019. Gebr. Heinemann has won a retail concession on an AIDA Cruises ship for the first time. On 16 April, Gebr. Heinemann officially started operation of the retail spaces on the AIDAluna, after the cruise ship successfully ended a two-week stay in a Hamburg dry dock. On this day, AIDAluna then set off on its travels from Hamburg through Northern Europe offering numerous visual and technical innovations. On board: three Gebr. Heinemann shops totalling around 400 square metres of retail space. The Hamburg family-owned company has already been a partner of AIDA Cruises for many years as a distributor and, amongst other ships, also supplied AIDAluna. Until now, the retail business had been operated in-house by the shipping company.

“We are delighted by AIDA Cruises' trust in us and that we were selected by this important tendering process. Thanks to our many years of experience in travel retail in international airports and on cruise ships, we have significant know-how about travellers and their purchasing behaviour. This expertise helps us to continually improve and adapt the shopping experience for the cruise passengers. This will contribute towards leading our retail business with AIDA Cruises towards greater growth,” says Ricarda Frentzel-Beyme, Director Cruise Liner at Gebr. Heinemann.

Heinemann brand quality on AIDAluna

In the new AIDA Shopping World, visitors to AIDAluna will in future be treated to an even broader range from the exclusive Heinemann portfolio on 400 square metres of retail space, with the latest trends and sought-after brands from around the world.

In all, Gebr. Heinemann operates three shops on AIDAluna. One of the shops provides the passengers with an extensive selection from the range of perfume & cosmetics, accessories and jewellery. In a further shop, a comprehensive range of fashion, bags and shoes awaits. In a third shop, passengers will find liquor, tobacco and confectionery products, toys and the popular logo goods with the “AIDA” lettering. All the furnishings in the completely newly renovated shops in a beach house design provide a natural ambience in the foreground, which is mirrored by the use of numerous elements in wood and plant designs.

“On AIDAluna, we specifically aligned our wide range of products to the various needs of the passengers, with plenty of variety, so that we can offer every guest on board an interesting brand portfolio during their dream holiday. The core range is therefore also extended with seasonal offers or by fashion brands such as the current Benefit and Kerbholz,” explains Ricarda Frentzel-Beyme.

The contract for AIDAluna will initially run for 3.5 years. The shops on other AIDA ships will continue to be operated by the shipping company.
